Finding Treasure in the Life of Sinners
• But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, the secrets of his
heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among The Gift of Prophecy
4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the
manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of
tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. 1 Cor 12:4-11 (ESV) you. 1 Cor 14:24-25
• Prophecy reveals the secrets in
unbeliever’s hearts
Earnestly desire = Lust after
1 Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. 2 For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. 3 On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and
consolation. 1 Cor 14:1-3 (ESV)
Prophecy is a Gift-Not an Award
• But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things
there is no law. Gal 5:22-23
• The gift of prophecy is for purpose of:
• Edification= to build up
• Exhortation= to call near
• Consolation= to cheer up
To Encourage the Church
• Gift of Prophecy is not to direct or correct the Body of Christ
• Encourage the church
• We never allow ministering to speak negatively
• Prophesy the answer not the problem
For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 1 Cor 14:31 (ESV)
17 And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; 18 even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. Acts 2:17-18 (ESV)
The Calling of a Prophet
7 But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.” 9 ( In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth?10 He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ Eph 4:7-13 (ESV)
• The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s
reward. Matt 10:41 (ESV)
• The grace to see and hear
